Dr. María Jesús Vicent Awarded with the Rei Jaume I Prize in New Technologies

Dr. María Jesús Vicent Docón, member of our local chapter, has been awarded with the Rei Jaume I Prize in New Technologies, sponsored by the City Council of València.

This distinguished honor recognizes Dr. Vicent’s pioneering work in the development of personalized and innovative nanotherapeutic platforms, which enable the effective delivery of drugs with the potential to treat cancer and neurodegenerative diseases affecting millions worldwide.

Her groundbreaking contributions include the design of therapeutic polymers for the co-delivery of drug combinations, and the creation of novel methodologies to synthesize stable, controlled, and high-quality nanostructures — tools that are redefining the future of precision medicine.

As highlighted by the prize jury, Dr. Vicent’s achievements are reflected in multiple patents and the successful creation of a spin-off company translating scientific breakthroughs into real-world solutions. Her leadership exemplifies how cross-disciplinary innovation can address major medical challenges while generating positive social impact.
