Research Assistant - Spanish National Cardiovascular Research Center (CNIC) - Madrid (Spain) 

Research Assistant position is available in the Translational Laboratory for Cardiovascular Imaging and Therapy group, to work on the research line lead by Dr Eduardo Oliver (Borja Ibañez’s group). Specifically, the candidate will work on a project aimed at finding new targets and innovative therapeutic approaches in pulmonary hypertension.

Among the tasks to be performed by the candidate are the management of laboratory animals (administration of treatments and close monitoring), evaluation of the animal's cardiovascular status by invasive techniques (catheterization, organ extraction and histological analysis) and non-invasive techniques (echocardiography, IVIS, magnetic resonance and CT), the management of primary cell cultures (especially cells of the pulmonary vasculature), transfection techniques, plasmid cloning, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, analysis of mitochondrial metabolism with Seahorse, Real-time PCR and western blot. Although it is expected that the candidate will receive the adequate training to perform these tasks, the previous demonstrable experience in the above-mentioned techniques will be valued. The candidate is expected to have a direct input in the development of the project.

We are looking for enthusiastic and highly-motivated person with an interest in cardiovascular pharmacology and translational research.

Candidates:

• Graduate in Biomedical & Life Sciences (Pharmacy, Biology, Veterinary or Medicine).

• Experience in the above mentioned techniques and international experience will be an asset.

• Scientific contributions, master or PhD degree will be acknowledged.

Eligibility:

• Hold a university degree in biomedical and life sciences.

• Availability to work with animal models of cardiovascular diseases, and human blood (Personal license holder required).
